Custom Foot Orthotics

Orthomedix delivers quality, personal service

Orthomedix delivers quality, personal service

Custom molded foot orthotics will relieve a number of conditions, provide the patient with functional foot orthotics that help relieve or eliminate the conditions originally suffered by the patient.

Several of the conditions orthotics are prescribed for result in the patient having calluses on various areas of the underfoot, painful areas or joints sometimes not even attributed to foot related problems. Calluses can become painful for a patient while weight bearing or walking. Other indicators will cause a patient to suffer from sore knees, hips and/or lower back.

Using proven methods, we create quality orthotics to keep your feet healthy

Using the physician, surgeon, or health care professional’s specifications, our orthotic specialists take a non-weight bearing corrective impression of the patient’s feet in impression foam resulting in a negative impression of the foot. Using impression foam permits us to see and control the patient’s foot in order to maintain neutrality.

We pour plaster into the impression foam presenting us with a positive form of the foot. After allowing the plaster to set, we clean and prepare the plaster form. The plaster is molded with any required correction. We heat and vacuum–mold the rigid or semi-rigid orthotic materials to the plaster form. We then sand, form and complete orthotics with a thin covering material for added comfort.

We see the patient again for pick up of the orthotics to ensure a proper fit. We provide instructions on the wear and care of the orthotics as well as seeing the patient for a follow-up appointment to ensure progress.

It is our belief that using a negative impression of the patient’s foot ensures a better performing device than other methods in use for making orthotic devices.

Persons wearing orthotic devices should have them checked on a yearly basis. Orthotic devices are durable and may have a life expectancy of more than one year providing there are no arthritic changes to the affected area.

With the complexity of the foot, is it any wonder nearly 80% of our population suffers from foot related problems.
